Challenge

The number of hubs and accelerators in Africa has increased tremendously over the past few years. Most new hubs are still implementing more generic programs and focused on tech in general, unlike hubs in more mature markets who are becoming more specialized. With the growth in awareness and funding around Greentech and climate change, there is the opportunity for hubs and accelerators to run dedicated Greentech focused programs, to help develop this industry and support entrepreneurs.

Approach

Together with the consortium IRESEN-Viridian, we have designed a 1+ year capacity building program for selected hubs to transition into the Greentech space. Via a tailor-designed one-week bootcamp and follow up activities throughout the year, hubs will access tools, resources, and a playbook, as well as develop a personalized strategy for sustainability. We are looking for one hub per targeted country to participate in this program.

Goal

Strengthen ten existing hubs or accelerators and make them the go-to-place for Greentech startups in their country. The program aims to connect the hubs to build a specialized Greentech community that is collaborative, regionally and globally interconnected and mission-oriented.

Enjeu
