The future of humanity is inevitably urban, and digitization stands as an essential, unstoppable revolution to ensure future-proof cities focused on people and the environment.

Make-IT in Africa is bringing 21 participants from the African innovation ecosystem to Barcelona for the Smart Cities Innovation Study Tour. The trip aims to position and promote the African innovation ecosystem on a global level, while simultaneously facilitating European – African dialogues on building a Smart City Innovation Ecosystem.

The Study Tour will take place from the 14th to 18th of November 2022. Participants include 15 startups from across the Continent, representatives from Digital Innovation Hubs from 4 African countries and policy stakeholders from Rwanda and South Africa. They will get the unique opportunity to attend the Smart City Expo World Congress for a full two days of networking and knowledge exchange. In addition, they will connect with the City Administration of Barcelona on how they build an urban digital infrastructure that unlocks data-driven innovation and how they engage citizens to set a needs-based, demand-driven urban transformation agenda.

We look forward to exploring what the future of Smart Cities has in stock!
